You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Combat Systems Division of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

Duties

You will provide Fleet Technical Support for Regional Maintenance Center (RMC) on Small and Medium Caliber Gun Weapons Systems (MK-45, MK-110, MK-38). You will diagnose mechanical problems for RMC in Small and Medium Caliber Gun Weapons Systems (MK-45, MK-110, MK-38) to the module or component level. You will diagnose electrical deficiencies in Small and Medium Caliber Gun Weapons Systems (MK-45, MK-110, MK-38) to the module or component level. You will conduct inspections and assessments using Technical references for Board of Inspection and Survey. You will provide technically sound oral and written recommendations to Regional Maintenance Centers and Naval Shipyards, and other Customers on matters related to Small and Medium Caliber Gun Weapons Systems (MK-45, MK-110, MK-38).

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Incumbent is required to perform assigned duties at a variety of job sites within commuting area.
  • It is incumbent's responsibility to transport him/her in an expeditious manner between job sites in the local area of his/her permanent duty station with reimbursement of costs in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations.
  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification via command sponsored CPR training and annual refresher training in accordance with OPNAV 5100.23D.

Qualifications

To qualify for the ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, GS-0802-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing methods and techniques of engineering or architecture; Experience working with electrical, electronic, and mechanical weapons systems; Experience collecting engineering data analysis to identify and resolve conflicts with combat systems; Experience preparing reports to identify issues and recommend corrective action; Experience participating in data collection and integral data analysis; Experience special engineering analyses and studies either in support of SYSCOM/ISEA or in-house initiatives for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance, procedures, material, etc. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
