You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, the Assistant Chief Test Engineer in the Test and Work Control Division of the Engineering and Planning Department of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS and IMF).
Duties
You will provide the leadership necessary to successfully coordinate the entire Test Program on assigned availability.
You will act as the authoritative source for senior shipyard management for major decisions regarding overhaul direction.
You will categorize work permits, re-entry control documents, inspection/deficiency reports, test procedures, etc. to appropriate key events to ensure the technically correct, timely and efficient execution of the availability.
You will conduct test planning meetings, prepare and issue the list of authorized test, and ensure tests are not authorized until all prerequisites and test preparations are accomplished.
You will ensure that testing prerequisites that affect ship's conditions are identified and authorized for accomplishments on the Ship's Plan-of-the-Day (SPOD).
You will monitor shipboard testing in progress, and take action to assure that testing is conducted in accordance with approved technical and safety requirements.
You will provide formal certification of readiness of non-nuclear ships systems required to support major key events.
You will coordinate with Nuclear Test Engineers for matters involving interface testing with systems under their cognizance and with Ship's Force with respect to test readiness and support of shipboard testing.
You will provide direction for preparation of sea trial agendas and the overall direction for the conduct of assigned sea trials, including review of test data for acceptance and/or deciding the need for repair or retest.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing the proper sequencing and execution of test programs involving electrical or mechanical systems of surface ships or submarines.
