About the Position: This position is for an Education and Training Specialist (Space and Missile Defense) with the US Army Space & Missile Defense Command (USASMDC), Center of Excellence, US Army Space and Missile Defense School. The US Army Space & Missile Defense Command is participating in an alternate personnel system known as the Acquisition Demonstration Project (AcqDemo). Duties

Develops, coordinates, and integrates curricula for the Command and General Staff College programs pertaining to Space Operations. Prepares course syllabi, lesson plans, examinations, practical exercises, visual aids, and other instructional support for the resident and nonresident Command and General Staff College courses and Space electives. Provides expert consultation, professional documentation, and advice to Command and General Staff College leadership, government officials, and contractors on assigned areas of responsibility. Coordinates with college members and other subject matter experts to initiate content changes, develops different approaches and methods of instruction when the need is observed, and to implement changes considered necessary to improve the courses.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) or a memorandum of understanding (MOU).

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the experience requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience in applying a variety of instructional techniques suitable to assigned subject areas (e.g., Space Operations); preparing course syllabi, lesson plans, examinations, and/or other instructional material for resident and nonresident courses; AND coordinating with college members and other subject matter experts to resolve problems or questions relating to the Space education and/or providing expert consultation and information concerning Space Operations concepts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02).
