About the Position: This position is with the National Guard Bureau, ARNG Chief of Staff, Facility Services, Arlington, VA. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Direct project planning to correct any accreditation or regulatory deficiencies in the facilities. Monitor funding provided for maintenance and repair programs. Oversee and prepare documents necessary to obtain contracts for the operation, maintenance, repair, minor construction and general construction.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime.
  • The employee may be required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
  • May be required to Serve as a Contracting Officers Representative (COR).
  • May serve as installation project officer.
  • May be required escort and supervise vendors in classified areas.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Managing a maintenance program for office building complexes, including planning maintenance activities, and developing preventive maintenance programs; Conducting surveillance activities over construction and maintenance operations performed by a variety of private contractors; reviewing project plans and specifications for workability, informing contractors of construction and reporting requirements; Performing maintenance or construction work, including estimating material and labor costs for a variety of construction or maintenance projects (such as construction or maintenance of brick, frame, structural steel, reinforced concrete, and other type structures ranging from one- or two-story buildings to larger structures). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities ManagementFacilities Operations and MaintenanceFacilities Procurement and Contract Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
