About the Position: This position is located at US Army Installation Management Command, US Army Garrison Fort Hunter Liggett, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security Training Division Training Branch, Fort Hunter Liggett, California. We are located on the Central Coast of California between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The nearest towns to Fort Hunter Liggett are King City 26 miles north and Paso Robles 50 miles south.

Duties

Serve as advisor to the Range Operations Manager. Interpret regulations and directives pertaining to range operations and activities. Oversee and execute the maintenance program of all ranges and equipment assigned. Assist in developing budget and manpower requirements for mission accomplishment. Coordinate range safety matters and environmental concerns within the range complex. Supervise, plan, and coordinate the activities of Range Operations Personnel.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising and assisting on matters pertaining to the capabilities and limitations of the installation range and training area facilities, complying with administrative and legal guides, policies, laws, and regulations, such as live ammunition, wildlife, environmental, occupational health, safety, security, fire and other areas related to the execution of training exercises; coordinating range operations to include safety matters; assigning and explaining work requirements; and evaluating work performance of subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental, etc. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: LeadershipOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and EvaluatingProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
