Duties

You will interpret and apply remediation requirements of engineering drawings and job plans. You will separate, contain, and transport hazardous and industrial wastes. You will independently make decisions regarding containment methods, collection, storage, disposal, transport, sampling and testing operations. You will identify and evaluate environmental requirements for the safe and compliant management of hazardous and industrial wastes.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver?s license.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a government license to operate a 6000 pound forklift, and manlift within 6 months of employment,

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1)Placing hazardous waste in appropriate containers; 2) Assisting with processing hazardous waste for storage and disposal; 3) Inspecting hazardous waste containers, storage locations, and labels; and 4) Operating forklifts and other container handling equipment.
