You will serve as a HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE BRANCH of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You will interpret and apply remediation requirements of engineering drawings and job plans. You will separate, contain, and transport hazardous and industrial wastes. You will independently make decisions regarding containment methods, collection, storage, disposal, transport, sampling and testing operations. You will identify and evaluate environmental requirements for the safe and compliant management of hazardous and industrial wastes.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

The selective placement factor is: "Must possess a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements" and "Must possess a government license to operate a 6,000-pound forklift and manlift"***NOTE: A copy of your current license/registration MUST be submitted with your application in order to be considered for this position. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: WG-06: 1) Assisting with containment, cleanup, and decontamination of hazardous spills; 2) Separating, collecting, packaging, handling, storing, record keeping methods and procedures of hazardous and industrial wastes; and 3) Interpreting remediation requirements of engineering drawings and job plans. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume. WG-07: 1) Assisting an environmental abatement/removal crew with preparatory, rehabilitative, and clean-up work; 2) Performs packaging and storage work such as making, labeling, packing, place carding, and recording of all containers in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency regulations; 3) Operating computer terminals for procedures, recordings, and regulatory requirements; and 4) Performing duties such as containment, cleanup, and decontamination of land-bound hazardous spills as a member of the hazardous waste response team. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
