You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT of NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY.

Duties

Your will serve as the principal advisor on personnel, physical, information, and industrial security. You will provide command support in managing, directing and administering the operations of the Security Office, providing staff and Command-wide security support services which include management and accountability of highly sensitive material. You will make recommendations and decisions that are universally accepted and sound, though final approval may depend upon formal actions by others. You will maintain the Naval Submarine Support Facility's Command Security Program.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position requires as a condition of employment attainment of the Security Fundamental Professional Certification (SFPC) within two years of assuming this position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience applying security procedures and practices for the protection of classified and sensitive unclassified information by using best security practices. * Experience administrating, organizing, and managing the personnel security program ensuring the initial and continuous of individual eligibility of security clearances. * Experience preparing, coordinating, and conducting security inspections of facilities for an organization. * Experience creating and developing standard operating procedures in alignment with program objectives. * Experience maintaining and keeping current instructions and notices file pertaining to civilian personnel. * Experience communicating effectively, clearly, and concisely both written and or oral. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

GS-11

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
