You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) in the Waterfront Operations Department of the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR, USN, Portsmouth, VA (SUPSHIP Portsmouth). Duty Stations are in the Hampton Roads area in the cities of Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake, VA.

Duties

You will act as the business agent for MARMC with other activities involved in the assigned availability/contracts. You will maintain liaison with customers, ship’s force, and contractors on all matters on all assigned availabilities from advance planning through post completion. You will act as funds administrator for the assigned availability and contracts. You will coordinate planning, and estimating, design specification preparation, and scheduling. You will conduct the arrival conference, weekly progress conferences, and represent MARMC at all conferences pertaining to the assigned availability and contracts.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with planning, contract administration, procurement regulations and knowledge of all the technical aspects involved in the repair and overhaul of U.S. Navy ships and craft. Experience with funds management and accounting procedures promulgated by NAVCOMPT manuals to avoid misappropriations of funds. Experience preventing and alleviating planning delays, scheduling conflicts, and material problems. Experience and analytical capability to grasp a wide range of pertinent data and evaluate the various problems associated with ship overhaul and modernization process. Experience and a broad comprehensive knowledge of the construction and compartmentation of all types of naval ships and craft to avoid bottlenecks, resolve conflicts in scheduling work of all parties and determine when and where material substitutions may be made.
