For more information please see: AcqDemo This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Acq Demo Business and Technical Management to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

This position is part of the Missile Defense Agency, Missile Defense Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as the Information Assurance (IA)/Computer Network Defense (CND) Officer (IAO/CNDO) for operational assets of a program/project/element. This position is being filled under AcqDemo Direct Hiring Authority (DHA) for non-acquisition positions involving 51% or more of time in direct support of acquisition positions within Business and Technical Management Professional Career path. As a IT Specialist (Security) at the NH-2210-3 broadband level some of your typical work assignments may include: Plans, develops, executes, and maintains Information Assurance (IA) and Computer Network Defense (CND) products, tools, and procedures that mitigate IA and cyber-threat vulnerabilities and that protect the loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability to assigned weapon systems and information. Monitors and analyzes program/project/element information systems and networks in order to detect unauthorized activity and potential vulnerabilities. Reports system and network intrusions, disruption of services, or other incidents, which degrade the IA posture and threaten the security of operations and assets. Provides timely, relevant situational awareness of potential threats, attacks, network status and other critical information necessary to support leadership decisions and response measures. Supports the execution of DoD IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM) program. Coordinates the resolution and implementation of IA Vulnerability Alerts/Bulletins/Technical Advisories (IAVAs/IAVMs, IAVTs), Communication Tasking orders (CTOs), security incidents, feedback from external assessment agencies in coordination with the Information Systems Security Manager, and personnel security.

  • This is an Information Assurance Workforce/Cybersecurity position coded Level II in the Management Category (1AM). Must have at the time of permanent appointment or achieve within 6 months of EOD the appropriate baseline certification
  • Continuous learning points are required every two years

Qualifications

You may qualify at the NH-03 broadband, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below. You must meet at least 2 of the 3 statement listed in order to be qualified: Prepare and review Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation and controls to make recommendations for improvements to DoD accreditation/authorization process documentation. Apply Cybersecurity principles, practices, methods, and techniques. Analyze operations in order to provide timely, relevant situational awareness of potential threats, attacks, and network status by using one of the following: network monitoring, intrusion detection, response, or mitigation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210, series as listed below: For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
