About the Position: This position is located in the U.S Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, located at Ft Bliss, TX. May be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE)13 months by current permanent Army employee with competitive status.

Duties

Serves as Logistics Management Specialist for the Modernization, Displacement and Repair Site (MDRS) Division. Conducts analysis of MDRS logistics operational data and trends, developing documents, findings, conclusions and recommends Courses of Action (COA) to improve performance and reduce cost. Primary point of contact for maintenance assisting units, Field Level Support Contractor with various problems, delays or negative impact requiring resolution. Primary point of contact on all logistics matters involving MDRS Readiness Status reporting, transportation, maintenance, and supply management assistance. Provides guidance in improving readiness and logistics support effectiveness. Determines causes for problems, delays, etc. Coordinates performance of corrective actions. Determines deficiencies in the logistics chain which affect optimum readiness and makes recommendations for corrective action. Utilizes various logistical systems, such as: Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A), Logistics Integrated Warehouse (LIW), Logistics Modernization Program (LMP), Logistics Integrated Database (LIDB). Attends meetings, conferences, working groups, etc., addressing reports, analyses, and recommendations to assist in future formulations of logistics maintenance program planning and execution.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance (Tier 3).
  • This position requires up to 20% temporary duty (TDY) travel.
  • Time limited appointment may be extended up to 5 years. May be converted to permanent at management's discretion.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) developing policies and procedures that affect distribution, redistribution, readiness and disposition of systems/equipment; 2) analyzing techniques that measure the effectiveness, efficiency and productivity of logistics operations; 3) evaluating logistics deficiencies and problems; 4) communicating verbally/written to advise and provide solutions to logistics problems to higher echelon. This is the definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementPlanning and EvaluatingReliability & Maintainability AnalysisTechnical CompetenceWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
