This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for linking national defense strategy, national military strategy, achievement of unified action by integrated military forces in operations conducted across domains such as land, sea, air, space, or the information environment, strategic planning and contingency planning.

Duties

As a GLOBAL INTEGRATION JOINT EXERCISE AND REHEARSAL SPECIALIST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Implementing global military integration within all aspects of the Division mission. Drafting, staffing, and seeking approval for policy associated with rehearsing the joint force based on the Secretary of Defense and Deputy Secretary of Defense guidance to conduct a joint force rehearsal. Applying the Joint Training System (JTS) to ensure the U.S. Armed Forces are trained and prepared to employ a broad portfolio of military capabilities that offer versatility across the full spectrum of mission requirements. Coaching and mentoring DDJT personnel in the application of JTS processes that align joint training strategy with CCMD assigned missions to produce trained and ready individuals, staffs, and units in the Joint Force. Providing support to decision making at the highest level by providing decision briefs regarding the timing and content of joint force rehearsals through the J7 chain of command to DJS and CJCS electronically or in person and is the primary briefer at OPDEPS and Tank forums on joint force rehearsals.

  • Work will require travel away from the normal duty station greater than 25% of the year. Occasionally, requires ability to deploy to austere, and potentially dangerous environments on military aircraft and in military facilities worldwide.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the13 grade level in the Federal service: Advising higher levels of management on Joint Exercise design and control and the Joint Training System. Expert knowledge of military command structures, missions and associated relationships and interactions. Developing and maintaining an in depth understanding of the United States adversaries, security strategy, guidance for employment of forces, posture plans and policies of OSD and the Joint Staff. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
