This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), Central Operations Branch with one vacancy located in College Park, MD.

Duties
As a Lead IT Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
Serve as the Senior Production Analyst (SPA) Team Lead, supporting the operational HighPerformance Computing (HPC) system.
Articulate and communicate to the team the assignments, projects, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and/or program issues under review, and deadlines and time frames for completion.
Implement and enforce complex policies and procedures, and ensures data integrity, as maintenance and modification projects to existing applications are undertaken.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify at the GS-14 level:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:
Evaluating the impact of new or proposed applications on the operating environments and recommend changes to ensure the functionality and stability of the operating environment; and
Documenting or controlling the functional and physical characteristics of a system, network, or product to include the requirements, design, software, hardware, documentation, and procedures during the system life cycle; and
Analyzing and defining data base management, storage, and retrieval requirements and specifications sufficient to apply new technological developments to previously unresolvable problems.
AND
Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the following four competencies:
