The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Health Systems Specialist - Asst C&P Manager. They are responsible for assisting the Credentialing and Privileging Manager with the operation of the Credentialing and Privileging Program Office at a Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) or Health Care System (HCS) and is responsible to provide extensive support in the management of Credentialing and Privileging program activities.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Language Proficiency: (1) Must be proficient in spoken and written English and (2) Must be proficient in spoken Spanish. Preferred Experience: Experience in developing, coordinating and recommending changes for the improvement of workflow in the program or section area. Experience in reviews of clinical privileges and scope of practices for accuracy, setting specific indicator and signature appropriations as required for compliance and determines appropriate actions resulting from agency and local level reviews. 2 years of experience in VHA Credentialing and Privileging. This occupational series has an Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) which is a minimum qualification requirement. NOTE: Experience/Education for IOR is included in the below descriptions. GS-11 grade level: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Supervisory Health System Specialist. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: (1) Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; (2) Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and (3) Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have obtained this experience working within a health care setting, working directly with clinicians and other administrators to solve problems in support of the delivery of patient care; and experience leading an administrative component of a health care credentialing and privileging program. ~ OR ~ Applicants may substitute education for the experience required for the GS-09 level. Successfully completed a Ph.D., equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, Or LL.M in the related field of the position to be filled (i.e., hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration). The education portion must include courses that demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Education must have been obtained in an accredited college, or university. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~ OR ~ Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-09 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-11. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
