About the Position: Serve as a Physical Security Specialist for the local medical treatment facility (MTF) at Womack Army Medical Center, outlying health clinics, medical homes,ancillary facilities, and assets.

Duties

Prepare written inspection, survey, and investigation reports of findings for presentation to the supervisors/commanders and as appropriate. Evaluate requests for physical security waivers and exceptions and makes recommendations to supervisors. Coordinate with installation counterparts and technical and subject matter experts to assess for physical security vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Employee may be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator license.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
  • This position may be required to work evenings/nights, on-call, rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and or other schedules common to hospital operations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. [remove LL.B or J.D., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityPhysical SecuritySecurity Program ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
