Duties

As a Public Health Analyst, you will: Serve as an analyst responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating large public health program(s), projects, and/or study activities. Establish program standards, policies, strategies, goals, and evaluation plans in conjunction with senior staff. Provide comprehensive technical and administrative advice and assistance to an assigned domestic or international project or program. Perform difficult and complex advisory and assistance functions. Resolve difficult management and administrative problems that prevent effective program application. Collect and interpret data and information from a variety of sources and prepare recommendations accordingly. Serve as liaison, committee member, or similar point of contact with internal and external representatives. Prepare and make presentations.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: designing, implementing, and conducting program evaluations, studies or projects to identify program strengths and weaknesses and providing solutions for identified weaknesses. Experience must provide evidence of the following: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
