Duties
Serves as principal assistant, senior civilian advisor and program synchronizer for the Command on issues related to mission support internal management and administration.
Participate in the development and review of plans, programs, policies and procedures for the execution of command-wide activities.
Conduct special analysis and resolution of issues related to resources (dollars, manpower, physical facilities, capital equipment, security) required and/or available to carry out missions/functions.
Prepare, sign and release assigned technical/non-technical and routine correspondence.
Directly supervises the offices of the directors and special staff, in concert with the Chief of Staff (COS).
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Travel away from the normal duty station may be required to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Specific training and immunization requirements as appropriate for OCONUS deployments.
- Position requires a pre-employment deployment physical.
- Position requires duties to be performed under austere and potentially hazardous conditions during exercises and deployment operations.
- May be required to deploy into areas in which hostile action may occur. Specific training and immunization requirements as appropriate for OCONUS deployments.
- Incumbent is required to return to duty within 60 minutes after receipt of notification.
- Must obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET Security Clearance.
- Positions Identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Position is subject to random drug testing IAW AR 690-85.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising senior leaders on actions to establish the framework of command/organizational policy; reviewing proposals, actions, inspections, and/or reports by headquarters level staff to ensure achievement of command/organizational objectives; and implementing overall command/organizational policies and plans to support day-to-day administration of staff programs and execution of the commander's intent. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
