The primary purpose of this position is to provide journeyman level expertise that involves developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems in order to obtain, maintain, and sustain an Authority to Operate (ATO) for modeling and simulation capabilities.

- Obtain and maintain Security clearance
- Must achieve the IA certification within six months of assignment
- Must have knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services, and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures
- Must have knowledge of IT INFOSEC security requirements for certification and accreditation.,
- Must have knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques to implement protection of computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-05 thru GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience examples are as described as having Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products and services and methods for evaluating risk and vulnerability, implementing mitigating improvement and disseminating IT security tools and procedures.
Knowledge of IT INFOSEC security requirements for certification and accreditation, network operations an protocols, systems testing and evaluation and performance management methods sufficient to implement and configure system/network compliance with security accreditation requirements.
Knowledge of Local Area Network security requirements and techniques to implement protection of computer systems from viruses, data tampering and unauthorized system entry.
Knowledge of a broad range of telecommunications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media equipment, equipment configuration and related software systems, processes and procedures to implement security accreditation requirements to counter vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g., espionage, disruption of services, destruction programs/applications) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
Ability to apply findings of assessments to mitigate IT security risks through the implementation of corrective actions.
Ability to apply policies, principles and IT security concepts sufficient to carry out activities leading to security C&A,
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Education
Basic Requirements:
- Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
- Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
