You will serve as a Safety Occupational Health Specialist of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE.

Duties

You will perform oversight and safety assurance assessments of subordinate commands to ensure effective safety and occupational health programs are in place. You will evaluate the effectiveness of base operating support safety services provided to the command. You will schedule and perform periodic scheduled/unscheduled inspections of facilities, work sites, and operations to evaluate compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Navy regulations. You will recommend hazard abatement and control procedures to correct deficiencies, and documents status of corrective actions. You will consult with base or region safety and environmental personnel on inspections of operations/facilities. You will provide leaders with risk mitigation courses of action and assists in implementation of corrective actions of hazardous conditions as necessary.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Establishes policy for the implementation of risk management throughout the command, establishes risk management criteria for program evaluation, and reports evaluations to command leadership; 2) Analyzes data, evaluate trends, and coordinate requirements on a routine basis with leadership at the accountable command, NAVSUP Headquarters (HQ), host installation safety offices, industrial hygienists, medical staff, and supported commands; 3) Assists contracting personnel in developing or modifying safety standards in performance work statements, quality assurance surveillance plans, and other contracting documents by identifying safety and health requirements.; 4) Assists contracting personnel in developing or modifying safety standards in performance work statements, quality assurance surveillance plans, and other contracting documents by identifying safety and health requirements.
