Duties
Manage and administer the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) program incorporating an Army/USACE directed Safety and Occupational Health Management System.
Develop local operating procedures to supplement regulations and manuals of higher echelons in the area of safety and occupational health.
Provide expert consultation and advice to top management, staff, and operating officials, on SOH management issues pertaining to a wide variety of complex industrial, operating, construction, and engineering work situations.
Manage the health hazard inventory program to prevent health risk exposures.
Supervise employees, plan work to be accomplished, and establish priorities for Safety and Occupational Health office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a SECRET suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation (NACI-TIER 3).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: related to safety and occupational health that provided the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, which includes: Managing and administering Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) programs; implementing and managing an SOH Management System; developing SOH program policies, procedures, and objectives; planning, scheduling, and establishing priorities for effective workload execution.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12 or above).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
