Duties

Serve as the Assistant Chief of Staff (DCOS), the principal assistant, senior civilian advisor, and program synchronizer for the command on all things special operations aviation (SOA) internal staff management and administration. Develop coordinated positions with sponsors and makes decisions that affect long range courses of action. Represent the COS and attends higher headquarters key battle rhythm meetings, lower subordinate unit meetings and serves as the principal for the COS meetings and staff engagements. Perform the full range of supervisory duties of the Commanding General’s Executive Assistant (EA).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter. Incumbent must be able to pass and maintain an annual Army Class 2 Flight Physical.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform temporary duty travel (TDY) CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Must maintain a multi-engine, commercial instrument, fixed wing military or civilian equivalent rating.
  • Incumbent may be required to work after normal duty hours and on weekends.

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Advise higher level officials on complex special operations aviation program management at a two-star general level; 2) Plan and develop special operations aviation programs and projects; 3) Provide budgetary oversight for a special operations aviation organization; 4) Perform direct supervisory duties such as: plan subordinate work based on priorities, evaluate work performance of subordinates. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
