This position is located in Refugee, Asylum and International Operations, Mission Operations Division, Mission Support Branch, Logistic and Operations Section.
As an MISSION SUPPORT SPECIALIST, you will coordinate and perform a wide range of duties to include mail management, records management, property management, facilities management, administrative clerical support services, and other site administrative support services as needed..
Duties
The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks which include mail management, records management, property management, facilities management, and administrative clerical support services to RAIO Directorate.
Provide advice in an administrative specialty area(s) and participating in and making contributions to management decisions in assigned program areas.
Maintain records by performing document review, electronic systems verification and make adjudicative decisions on immigration benefit applications and petitions.
Research and analyze applicable rules, regulations, policies and guidance surrounding administrative programs.
Tracks and controls USCIS IT property by scanning, assigning, transferring, and disposing of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) assets in accordance with related guidelines and policies.
Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and policies for various administrative activities and train staff accordingly.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/02/2025.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 01/02/2025.
Preferred applicant will have experience in records management in accordance with the Records Policy Manual (RPM), asset management, and mail management referencing the Mail Center Security Guide for General Services Administration (GSA), or National Archives and Records Administration.
GS-11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Perform liaison functions with other organizations.
Research and analyze applicable rules, regulations, policies and guidance surrounding administrative programs.
Advise management on regulations surrounding essential mission support functions (e.g., records management, property management, facilities management, and file management). OR
You may substitute a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent degree) or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M. if related for experience at the GS-11 grade level or such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours.
GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Analyze administrative data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates, and studies.
Prepare preliminary and finished reports and documents.
Provide advice on a variety of administrative and management programs and procedures.
Apply and modify established practices to provide solutions to specific administrative problems.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Conduct independent evaluations of administrative functions and preparing study findings, recommendations, and reports.
Develop standard of operating procedures, guides, or internal policies in relation to administrative activities.
Represent the office in dealings with vendors and personnel from administrative support organizations.
Design and deliver training programs to educate staff on records management and organizational policies.
