You will serve as a MATERIALS HANDLER in the ORDNANCE OPERATIONS DIVISION (272) of NMCLANT DET EARLE NJ.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will perform ordnance materials handling functions such as receiving, issuing, storing, segregating, selecting, handling, prepping, and processing and shipping inventory.
You will use information systems and maintain an accurate inventory of assets.
You will receive/offload ordnance materials from trucks, rail cars, vessels, MILVAN's and other conveyances.
You will perform receipt inspection per governing directives, providing assurance of quantity of item received and that material is correctly identified and further identifying visual damages, overages, shortages, or other discrepancies.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license AND Commercial driver's license (CDL) endorsement.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain Explosives Hazardous Materials driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain materials handling equipment (MHE) operator's license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

Experience performing work involving ordnance materials and operations as related to the receipt, issuing, storage, handling, segregation, preservation, and accurately maintaining inventories.
Experience screening, identifying and determining the serviceability status of returned, unidentified or improperly marked explosive ordnance items through segregation.
Experience conducting inventories per established schedules and regulatory guidance.
