The position is within the FAA, Aviation Safety (AVS), Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), Civil Aerospace Medical Institute, Aerospace Human Factors Research Division (AAM-500). The Office of Aerospace Medicine develops and manages medical programs in support of Aviation Safety.
Duties
The Research Clerk provides the support necessary to principal investigators and management to conduct research. This support includes interacting with customers, scheduling, facilitating events, data entry, clerical task i.e., maintaining files, records, logs, and document preparation under the limited direction of a manager or other experienced employee. The Clerk also assists the manager and other employees by performing routine, multiple, and varying task such as collecting and organizing materials from several sources. Develops charts and tables for reports and briefings to support the program as a team member and may act as a lead for other support staff personnel to coordinate various work assignments.
Requirements
- US Citizenship is required.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents).
- Successful completion of a security investigation may be required.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Position requires the skills of a fully qualified typist (typing at least 40 words per minute).

Qualifications
TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-E (FG/GS 7/8) LEVEL you must demonstrate in your application at least one (1) year of specialized equivalent to the next lower level of FV-D (FG/GS 5/6). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized Experience includes: interacting with customers and working with others in a team environment to gather and obtain information to accomplish clerical tasks and other work assignments; using various programs, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite and/or equivalent (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.); and preparing correspondence and maintaining files and/or records.Applicants should provide examples of Specialized Experience in their Work History. Qualifications must be met by the closing date of the announcement. ANDIn addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a selective factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Applicants who do not possess this criterion are ineligible for further consideration.This position requires the skills of a fully qualified typist (typing at least 40 words per minute). You must self-certify on your application that you type 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors.
