This position is part of the Defense Human Resources Activity. Incumbent serves as a Security Specialist responsible for the enterprise business management under the general guidance of the Director. Incumbent is responsible for accomplishing a wide-variety of security administration functions. Incumbent may work directly with the DHRA Centers/Offices' leadership or designated personnel in implementing certain aspects of security administration functions.
Duties
As a SECURITY SPECIALIST at the GS-0080-12/13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Develops, promulgates, and ensures compliance with DHRA wide policies and procedures relating to Information Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security, and Antiterrorism Security programs.
Implements, and monitors policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods regarding the classification, declassification, and protection of classified national defense information originated or controlled by DHRA.
Conducts Information and Physical security inspections/surveys, manage centralized physical security initiatives, oversight of physical security projects, and coordination with appropriate local, State, Federal and DoD agency and military services.
Reviews designs and inspects facilities where classified material will be located and evaluates the effectiveness of existing security practices. Assures that organization personnel are adhering to established policies and practices.
Assists in resolving complex security related problems to include conflicts in regulatory requirements and ensuring security regulations and policies are enforced.
Assists in conducing terrorist vulnerability assessments, risk and critically assessments, and accomplishing other objectives under the Antiterrorism Force Protection (AT/FP) Program

Qualifications
You may qualify for the Security Specialist, GS-0080-12/13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
Developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures related to Information Security, Physical Security, and Antiterrorism Security to protect personnel, assets, and classified national defense information;
Leading security inspections and vulnerability assessments across various facilities, identifying compliance gaps, and providing recommendations for improvements to enhance security measures and safeguard sensitive information;
Advising senior leadership on security-related matters, including regulatory compliance, risk management, and the integration of physical security, personnel protection, and emergency planning initiatives to mitigate security threats. (Experience must be reflected in resume).

B. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
