You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will provide maintenance, repair, installation and operation of exterior structures, buildings, fixture, and utilities.
You will apply a variety of painting techniques to a wide variety of surfaces, primarily interior and exterior finishing of large structures, houses, offices, buildings, and stationary and mobile or auxiliary equipment.
You will use various types of shop equipment to install service, repair and maintain a various plumbing fixtures and systems.
You will repair, remodel and make alterations to a wide variety of surfaces, primarily interior and exterior finishing of large structures, houses, offices, buildings, and stationary and mobile or auxiliary equipment.
You will analyze, repair, replace and make minor alterations to locking and security systems.
You will coordinate with other crafts and trades to determine responsibilities in the completion of maintenance work projects.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current California Vehicle Operations License valid for vehicles through 2 1/2 tons.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Pool Operator's certification when assigned pool operator duties.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

1) Installing, servicing, repairing, and constructing various exterior structures, buildings, fixtures, and utilities; 2) Interpreting work orders, and blueprints to plan and lay out work; 3) Applying various trade practices (e.g. Painting, Plumbing, Carpentry and Locksmith); 4) Utilizing tracking system (i.e. Maximo) to enter and track work assignments.
