You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will be a working leader assuring that assigned work requirements are carried out. You will pass on instructions on sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines that are received from the supervisor. You will order and obtain stocks and materials from the purchasing agent needed to perform work requests and repair orders. You will demonstrate proper work methods and assure safety and housekeeping rules are followed in accordance to regulations. You will inspect on-site, field conditions, and determine corrective actions required to restore normal service.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current California Vehicle Operator's license through 2.5 tons.
  • Personnel with electrical responsibilities must obtain and maintain a CPR certificate.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.
