About the Position: Serve as a Supervisory Personnel Security Specialist, responsible for overseeing civilian personnel engaged in processing centralized background checks; conducting interim/final suitability adjudication determinations; and, due processes and appeals for the total Army workforce.
Duties
Implement and manage a comprehensive suitability/security program.
Provide technical oversight of, and expertise regarding, the centralized background check and suitability determinations made by subordinates.
Coordinate and monitor the execution of assigned functions.
Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates.
Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands and refers unresolved disciplinary problems to supervisor.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be required to travel 25% of the time
- Must be able to obtain and/or maintain a TOP SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the Office of Personnel Management (OPM)Essentials of Suitability Adjudication Program Training Course. Details in Additional Information section below.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following coreSPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. Details in Additional Information section below.

Specialized Experience: Includes processing centralized background checks and making suitability determinations; analyzing and evaluating a suitability program using quantitative or qualitative techniques; developing processes and methods to gather, analyze and evaluate significant and/or complex investigative data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
