Duties

As a Protocol Specialist you will: Oversee the development, planning and execution of high-level events and complex travel engagements of strategic importance to the mission and activities of the CDC for the CDC Director. Identify strategic programmatic and mission areas in need of strengthening as well as new areas for protocol advancement for the CDC Director. Serve as a principal advisor and provides leadership on strategic planning for the organization represent the organization at meetings, conferences, or presentations. Evaluate and manage the CDC Director's responses to inquiries and requests from internal or external partners. Direct and manage the CDC Director's speaking engagements, meetings, and oversees planning for such events, including coordinating the development of event templates and memorandums through programs and other OD offices. Coordinate the development of tracking materials for the office to ensure alignment with agency priorities. Responsible for planning and coordinating events for the CDC Director from intake of accepted invitations to implementation that includes collaboration with internal and external federal, state, local and private sector partners which includes coordination calls and logistics planning. Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholders.

Qualifications

All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: planning, coordinating, and conducting public health events, building partnerships, and coordinating logistics, scheduling, security, and travel. To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: building and maintaining partnerships, collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate support of public health events, and experience coordinating logistics, scheduling, security, and travel. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Promotion potential: Promotion to the next grade level is at management's discretion and is based on your meeting qualifications and time-in-grade requirements, demonstrated ability to perform the higher-level duties, the continuing need for the higher-level duties, and administrative approval. Promotion to the next grade level is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied.
