This position is located in the Office of Ombudsman, of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support as a liaison to FDIC and regulated financial institutions to influence systemic change to improve operations and customer service and encourage the use of effective conflict management practices. There is currently one position in the Dallas, TX Regional Office at this time. This announcement may also be used to fill potential vacancies in Chicago, IL and Atlanta, GA.
Duties
Serves as the principal OO liaison to RMS and DCP management and staff in the assigned region for regulatory issues brought forward by the industry.
Serves as an expert liaison with other Divisions and Offices in the assigned region involved in matters brought to the attention of the OO.
Builds external relationships by promoting customer service and public relations within the region through responsive, professional and timely program stewardship that enhances the image of the Corporation.
Meets with insured depository institution officials and/or boards of directors, FDIC and other federal and state government regulators to discuss and resolve complaints brought to the attention of the OO.
Performs and/or coordinates the investigation of complaints; reviews supervisory materials for the resolution of complex or sensitive inquiries and complaints relating to FDIC regulatory activities.
Develops extensive outreach programs to be presented to the industry, including bank commissioners and trade associations.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as working in a banking regulatory environment analyzing and processing examination reports of insured financial institutions reviewing policies, rules and regulations to ensure fair treatment of institutions throughout the examination and regulatory processes; and coordinating the analysis of operating programs related to the banking industry to identify patterns and systematic problems and developing procedural and/or policy changes to resolve complaints and disputes made against insured depository institutions.
