About the Position: Position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at Crane Army Ammunition Activity and serves as Motor Vehicle Operator.
Duties
Operating single and combination vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 32,000 pounds or more.
Position may be assigned to various work areas as determined by such factors as area workload, overtime, emergencies, and customer requests.
Operates snowplows to assist in snow removal operations, as well as operations of construction equipment to load salt/sand, as needed.
Uses load-securing devices and tarps to prevent damage or loss of cargo.
Cleans vehicles, waiting areas, and work areas as needed.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Position requires a valid state Class A Commercial Driver’s License with HAZMAT endorsement.
- Pre-employment physical is required as a condition of employment, prior to appointment, reassignment, or transfer, prior to reporting for duty. Subsequent annual physicals are required.
- Must maintain explosives certification.
- Position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019 (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified Critical
- under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program) and must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968, which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition.
- Civilian Personnel of the Department of Defense are not exempt from this provision. Therefore, as a condition of employment, selectee will be required to sign a form acknowledging understanding of this provision.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade NTE 13 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. Tasks include the loading, unloading and/or transporting of ammunitions, explosives, and hazardous materials. I have the ability to operate forklift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing up to 10,000 pounds or more, and/or operate motor vehicles weighing up to 26,000 pounds or more (such as shop tractors, loaders, and/or platform trucks). I also have the ability to perform operational maintenance checks to verify vehicles are in proper working order. -Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Nature of work requires lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40lbs and heavier items with assistance from others and/or lifting devices. Performs work while sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, and climbing. Works from heights on truck beds, trailers, docks, and pieces of construction equipment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed in all weather conditions both indoors and out. Operates in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents. Subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or loading or unloading cargo and explosives. There is potential for slips and falls when working on or around construction equipment, docks, truck beds, and trailers. Additional hazards and responsibilities are encountered when working around explosives and crane operations.
