You will serve as a MOTOR VHEICLE OPERATOR LEADER in the TRANSPORTATION PRODUCT LINE, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will lead a crew of several Motor Vehicle Operators and Mobile Equipment Dispatcher.
You will keep trip records or logs, showing time of departure, sequence of stops, time of return, trip mileage, gasoline and oil consumption, and similar items.
You will operate vehicles that typically have an approximate gross weight of more than 32,000 lbs. over roads and streets, through all kinds of traffic within and between Government installations or over public roads and streets.
You will inspect vehicles for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper air pressure in tires, adequate fuel supply, water in radiator, proper oil level, battery condition and similar items.
Requirements

- You will be required to posses and maintain a current valid United States Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the following endorsements: H (Hazardous Material), N (Tank) (or X (tank, HAZMAT)), and P (passenger carrying).
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
Qualifications
This position has a Selective Placement Factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must possess a valid Class "A" State Driver's License as required for any combination vehicle with a gross combination weight rating of 32,000lbs or more if the vehicle being towed has a GVW of 10,000 lbs. or more. An "H" endorsement for transporting hazardous materials, an "N" endorsement for tanker vehicles (or X (tank & HAZMAT)), and a "P" endorsement for passenger. Do you meet this requirement? Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Inspecting completed work for quality and work order requirements; 2) Assigning works to individuals and providing technical direction and/or help in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes; 3) Overseeing the loading of bulky cargo to assure it is properly located, distributed and secured in the vehicle for balance and stability; and 4) Making minor repairs or adjustments on vehicles. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
