About the Position: Conducts student training involving any and all aspects of ATC responsibilities, operations, and procedures located at Fort Novosel, Alabama.
Duties
Conduct student training in all aspects of Air Traffic Control (ATC) responsibilities, operations and procedures.
Assist in writing lesson plans including handouts, instructor guides, and/or written exercises.
Evaluate student progress through grading and conducting counseling.
Apply a combination of instructional methods and techniques including conference/lecture.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret background investigation.
- Must complete the Cadre Training Course and a TRADOC recognized Basic Instructor Course within 6 months of onboarding.
- Incumbent must currently possess a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Control Tower Certificate or a certificate of grade.

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed 3 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however, return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that s demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes conducting student training involving all aspects of Air Traffic Control responsibilities, operations, and procedures, experience training in a control tower, radar, and Enhance tower Simulators, assisting with the development and review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Aviation Science and Aeronautics. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent GS-07.
