You will serve as a MAINTENANCE WORKER in the PUBLIC WORKS DIVISION of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Duties
You will perform minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions, and basic shop mathematics.
You will construct, install or repair items such as scaffolds, panels, bins, pallets, concrete forms, dry walls, sheathing, and roofing decking.
You will interpret specifications such as work orders with sketches or easily understood blueprints and technical instructions to plan and lay out work.
You will prepare surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, masking, spackling, and sanding surfaces.
You will repair new roofs, including metal flashing, gutters, and other roofing accessories, and repair or replace sheathing, boards, beams, and joists.
You will repair hard tile floors, walls and other surfaces in or around buildings.

You will set up, adjust and operate powered and non-powered tools.
You will follow safety protocols to prevent accidents.
You will ensure all work areas are free from hazards and will wear protective gear while working with tools and materials.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
