About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Perform the full range of work involved in the repair, overhaul, maintenance, and servicing of heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and systems. Troubleshoot, install, repair, and modify special purpose air conditioning, refrigeration, or climate regulations systems that are frequently modified and used to provide specific, critical conditions. Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and repair work which involves removing, cleaning, replacing, packing and sealing defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems. Repair or replace wall and ceiling materials such as sheetrock and paneling. Apply coating materials such as paint, varnish and shellac with brushes, rollers, spray guns, and other related methods and techniques. Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring system circuits, lines and associated fixtures while working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a Tier 1-Non-Sensitive/Low Risk suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License.
  • Must hold a current EPA universal certifications and have two years of documented experience/training with industrial or commercial HVAC equipment. Facility Management Division Chief approve alternate documentation.
  • Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Employee may be required to travel (TDY) up to 5% for this position.
  • This position has physical requirements that require the individual to be able to pass a physical examination annually thereafter

The ability to perform the full range of tasks to include repairing air conditioning systems, air compressors, changing air conditioning filters and belts, clearing drain lines, equipment vibration, read temperature and pressure gauges. Skill in reading blueprints and wiring diagrams to installing or repairing electrical systems. Ability to install, modify, and repair existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and water closets by locating and tapping main lines, placing and cutting route openings. Apply standard measurements, specifications, and instructions when constructing, installing, or repairing items such as frame structures, partitions, shelving, doors, forms, siding, etc. Plan and lay out the routing, placement, and arrangement of industrial or similarly complex systems, circuits, controls, and equipment. Work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Required to stand, walk, crawl, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Hand, foot, and eye coordination is required in operating motor vehicles. Frequent arm and leg movement is required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside. Inside work is usually in buildings, heated, lighted, and ventilated. Noise from hammers, saws, and other power tools is common. Subject to dust and dirt; cuts and bruises from using hand tools and equipment; or possible more serious injuries from operating power tools or from falls from ladders and scaffolds. Subject to electrical shock and burns. Possibility of injuries as a result of accident while driving motor vehicles. May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs.
