Duties
Serves as consultant, coach and supporter of employees in collectively solving problems and carrying out the organization's goals.
Plans and implements Field Office budget to accomplish program objectives.
Supervises multiple-resource professionals/technicians involved in managing Bureau programs such as range, noxious weed, wildlife, soil, water, air, botanical, recreation, wilderness, riparian, cultural, fuels, ecology, minerals and fisheries.
Promotes internal and external communication and coordination, including local interest groups, individuals, users, the general public, State and local government, and other Federal personnel.
Monitors work to ensure that the members complete their tasks effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

For GS-12: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as experience working in a Natural Resource environment assisting in the preparation of land use plans, interdisciplinary activity plans and/or ecosystem plans; leads and/or coaches individuals in planning and organizing management objectives; communicate effectively to a variety of audiences.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.
Physical Demands: Work is primarily in an office setting. There is frequent travel to field sites via four-wheel drive vehicles, fixed wing aircraft, helicopter, and boats. There is a potential for adverse climatic conditions. Field work involves walking, bending, and climbing on steep and rough terrain.
Work Environment: Most work is in an office setting. field sites involve exposure to adverse weather, i.e., rain, snow, cold and/or heat. Some outdoor work requires special safety precautions. Incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribed in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer.
Education
This position falls under the Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series, 0301. There are no Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) for this job series.
There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level.
