This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Eastern Nevada Agency in Elko, Nevada. The incumbent will serve as the Superintendent of the BIA Eastern Nevada Agency.
NOTE: An incentive may be available to highly qualified candidates.
Duties
Protecting of the rights of the Indian People in their trust property and those rights affecting trust property.
Provide technical assistance to the Tribe in the self-determination process and coordinates with monitoring of the Tribal Contracts and Grants through Self-Determination Specialist.
Serves as the line officer in charge of administration of Indian Affairs for the Agency.
Maintains a close working relationship with the Tribal government(s) and Tribal organization(s).
Provides leadership and support to the Region's program management teams composed of members from the agencies, and the Regional office.
Provides positive direction and implementation of supervisory and managerial activities related to equal employment opportunity and ensure merit-based practices in the recruitment, selection, training and recognition process.

Qualifications
GS-13 Minimum Qualifications: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as: exhibiting a thorough knowledge of the organization, mission, and objectives of BIA in order to carry out the management functions as a Superintendent; and supervising and monitoring employees in their performance of assigned or delegated tasks.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.
Preference in filling vacancies is given to qualified Indian candidates in accordance with the Indian Preference Act of 1934 (title 25, USC Section 472).
