This position is located in Refugee, Asylum & International Operations, Asylum Division, Asylum Vetting Center, Atlanta, GA.
As a Chief of Staff, you will direct and supervise a staff that may consist of varied Asylum Officers, Management and Program Analysts, Mission Support staff, and other administrative personnel who are responsible for performing work related to operational processes and organizational effectiveness.
Duties
Directing activities of subordinate managers, supervisors and expert staff responsible in key operational and mission support functions.
Maintaining knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations of administrative field sufficient to apply new theories and developments to problems.
Employing a wide range of methods for the assessment and improvement of complex programs, processes and systems.
Leading the coordination of labor relations issues locally, with frequent collaboration with the USCIS Labor and Employee Relations Program.
Leading, developing, and managing a high performing, diverse workforce, and ensuring employment practices are administered in a fair and equitable manner.
Providing authoritative guidance in the resolution of complex problems or issues impacting the Asylum program and other major CIS programs.
Qualifications
The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/26/2024.
Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 12/26/2024.
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Managing programs and associated personnel in a large organizational environment or group to meet the mission;
Conducting projects using a wide range of methods for the assessment and improvement of complex programs, processes and systems;
Providing expert guidance to a wide range of personnel based on knowledge of organization, programs, and mission goals, objectives and entities to include liaison with multiple stakeholders;
Planning, organizing, and completing analytical studies involving the substance of key mission critical programs.
