The position is located in the Department of Congressional and Public Affairs (CPA), Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Although the position is advertised equivalent to GS-11, MCC uses a pay banded system to compensate employees. This position is pay band 4C which is generally equal to GS-11.
Duties
Supports the development and implementation of communications and public affairs strategies and programs.
Writes and edits communications plans, strategies, talking points, blogs, newsletters, speeches, op-eds or other content.
Works with staff to develop written materials. Edits documents such as messaging, press releases, reports, web content, or other materials.
Prepares responses to sensitive correspondence; develops and prepares material to define and explain specific issues related to MCC programs.
Provides technical assistance and support for closeout agency communications campaigns, including strategy, messaging, collateral (Blogs, success stories, digital content, etc.), public engagement stakeholder outreach, media relations and social media.
Coordinates with Resident Country Mission, Millennium Challenge Account and Embassy public affairs officers on in-country activities.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
- Some domestic a and international travel may be required
Qualifications
To qualify for pay band 4C you must meet the following:
Have at least one year of specialized experience relevant to the position duties and comparable to the MCC Pay Band 5 (GS-9) or an equivalent level which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, this experience is defined as: working with staff to develop written materials; editing documents such as messaging, press releases, reports, web content or other materials; and/or writing and editing communications plans, strategies, talking points, blogs, newsletters, speeches, op-eds or other content.

OR
Applicants may also qualify based on completing requirements for a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work.

Combination of Experience and Education: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. To receive credit you must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours worked per week.
