This position is located in the USAGM, VOA, Persian News Network (PNN) and serves as the Managing Editor (Internet)(Persian). The incumbent of this position is responsible for providing guidance, direction, and training to multimedia journalists and production staff who create and maintain digital and graphic platforms for PNN to distribute globally.
Duties
As the Managing Editor (Internet)(Persian), you will be responsible for duties to include, but are not limited to:
Consults with the Division Director, Executive Editor and Program Manager regarding editorial responsibility for the creation and management of digital platforms for PNN.
Participates with management in the development and strategic planning of site content. Serves as liaison to the VOA Office of Strategy and Audience Development and the Programming Directorate to develop and implement new products for the PNN Division digital platforms.
Oversees the creation and management of the production process of content on digital platforms by re-purposing/creating of text, video, digital audio production, and graphics creation/selection.
Guides Service Chiefs and Web Editors in finding appropriate photos, illustrations, audio, video, and web links to enhance individual stories and reports.
Exercises sound editorial judgment in producing multi-media stories/reports for a fast-paced, live digital platform.
Coordinates web and social media production training for division personnel and assists Web Editors in resolving daily production issues and problems. As well as assists Web Editors in implementing improvements to digital platforms and serves as COR for division contracts.
Monitors news sources and new developments to identify stories for digital coverage and communicates with Central News Hub to ensure coverage, necessary updates, and content sharing is performed.
Requirements

Qualifications
Screen out factor: Applicants must have fluency in both English and Persian languages that enables them to speak, read, write, report, and translate in both languages. This screen out factor MUST be listed in your resume or cover letter in order to receive consideration for this position.
Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the GS-13 level or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience includes all the following:
Provides authoritative advice and guidance and expertise in assisting Division language services in managing and developing digital and graphic products for distribution to Persian audiences.
Expert experience in planning work in the Persian broadcast environment of USAGM that deals with broadcasting products to Persian and global audiences.
Extensive experience in reviewing written work of journalists and editing their work products for distribution, as well as graphic projects for viewing and distribution globally.
Oversees the creation and management of the production process of content on digital platforms by re-creating text, video, digital, audio production, and graphics creation and selection.
Provides employee development opportunities for staff and prepares justifications for all staff, including contract personnel, as well as training staff as required. Manages the purchase process for required training for staff, devices, and property to maintain services for the office.
