This position is located in the Division of Administration Facilities and Property Branch. Under the general direction of the Director, Facilities and Property Branch, serves as the Chief, Space Management Section. The incumbent has managerial responsibilities for planning, development and coordination of space and facility management, and occupational safety and health, programs for Washington Headquarters and 50 field locations.
Duties
As a Supervisory Space Management Specialist, GS-0301-14, your typical work assignments may include:
Consulting with key personnel on these matters and, as necessary, develops and designs floor plans, layouts, workflow charts, etc., to coordinate work operations with space assignment;
Determining requirements, preparing and submitting budget estimates, and administering the funds appropriated annually for construction, other space alteration, maintenance and moving;
Providing expert assistance on major planning problems and helping to formulate efficient, economical space operations and work management policies, criteria, and procedures; and
Developing, planning, and performing surveillance to assess compliance with contractual terms of schedule, cost and technical performance.

Qualifications
Ideal Candidate Statement
The ideal candidate should have an understanding of space planning, utilization, and optimization. This would include knowledge of building codes, regulatory requirements, and best practices in managing office layouts, furniture, and infrastructure. Candidate should have experience managing teams, delegating tasks, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Candidate is an independent leader, provides extensive research, development, and implementation of construction and procedures to ensure continued compliance with governing provisions. Candidate must be able to communicate with supervisors and management on construction and space management.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Space Management Specialist at the GS-14 grade level.
Specialized experience includes:
Consulting with key personnel on these matters and, as necessary, developing and designing floor plans, layouts, workflow charts, etc., to coordinate work operations with space assignment;
Determining requirements, preparing and submitting budget estimates, and administering the funds appropriated annually for construction, other space alteration, maintenance and moving; and
Providing expert assistance on major planning problems and helping to formulate efficient, economical space operations and work management policies, criteria, and procedures.

Time In-Grade Requirements
All current and former Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year of experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service is required to qualify for the GS-14 grade level.
