This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Privacy Officer (PRIV).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a high-level expert and advisor to the Chief of Staff and Privacy Office senior leadership on a broad range of policy and programmatic issues.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Senior Advisor, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include:
Advise on major issues and problems affecting policies, long and short-term plans and programs and homeland security initiatives.
Evaluate and enhance the effectiveness of the Office and its programs while providing transparency.
Develop policies necessary to make processes and procedures adjustments with impact on long-range implementation and administration.
Conduct special briefings and presentations to inform other DHS components, congressional staffers, and others about the Privacy Office's mission and objectives.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience GS-15: To qualify, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:
Analyze complex legislations, policies and regulatory decisions to make adjustments to the Privacy Office processes and procedures;
Responsible for conducting research into highly complex program and policy areas and exercises primary responsibility for developing goals, analytical framework, and appropriate methodologies; and
Advise senior leadership on legislation alternatives and policies affecting the Privacy's Office mission.

Time-in-grade
Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service.
