This position is located in the Surgical Outpatient Clinics and reports directly to the Chief of Ophthalmology.
Duties
Assess the equipment needs of the service.
Manage procurement and contracting processes for various requests.
Prepare and review purchase orders for supplies and nonexpendable property.
Develop evaluate, and modify organizational structure and systems to achieve program goals.
Secure adequate resources to section operations.
Participate in the analysis and interpretation of workload and other data used in resource planning.
Analyze, evaluate, and advise on the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, organizations, space and manpower utilization, management controls, information and documentation systems and similar functions of management.
Qualifications

Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Preferred experience in Ophthalmology including experience with Forum Software and Ophthalmology microscopes.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work involves both sedentary and ambulatory activities. It occasionally requires carrying objects such as files, books, and papers. The incumbent should also be able to walk to patient care units and other executive offices to pick up information, coordinate meetings, etc. This may occur on a daily basis. Movement between offices is required, and the incumbent may be required to travel between sites.
Work Environment: The work is primarily performed in an office setting walking to units throughout the medical center is also required.
