The Pathways Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years after degree completion to apply).
Duties
As a Security Assistant (Recent Graduate), your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Assists higher graded physical security specialists and associated staff with the execution of security matters in accordance with applicable rules, regulations and policies.
Assists with issuance of employee, contractor, temporary visitor, and proximity badges/passes for EOP civilians and contractor personnel.
Assists with providing security clearance information to outside agencies as requested by personnel security specialists.
Assists with Foreign Travel Safety & Security briefings which includes information collection, the creation of Foreign Country threat assessments and brief coordination.
Assists with development and implementation of security policy and procedures, education and training.
Requirements

- Registered with the Selective Service, if a male born after 12-31-1959
- Be at least 18 years old and obtain a favorable security determination
- Subject to pre-employment and random drug tests
- Direct Deposit is required
- RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID
- The agency requires 30 days on site before being eligible to participate in the telework and/or alternate work schedule program.
Qualifications
To be eligible for the Recent Graduate Program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
A. Completed all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years;
OR
B. Released or discharged from active duty within the previous two years, where the applicant is a veteran who, due to a military service obligation, was precluded from applying for a recent graduate position during any portion of the two-year eligibility period following completion of his/her degree or certificate requirements, provided that not more than six years have transpired since the applicant completed the requirements for his/her degree or certificate.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Examples of specialized experience are:
You may qualify at the GS-7 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector that demonstrates: (1) providing administrative and clerical support to management officials and (2) Developing and delivering oral and written communications.
OR
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTE: Education must demonstrate the applicant obtained the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time [insert degree type] education is considered 18 semester hours.

SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. S.A.A. is based on (1) Class standing-applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-Point Average-applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society - membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision.
