You will serve as a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Requirements Branch, Facilities Management Division, Public Works Department New London, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.

Duties

You will plan and assign work to be accomplished by subordinates and prepare work completion schedules. You will prepare annual budgets to prioritization facility maintenance and repair projects to be accomplished during the fiscal year. You will initiate hiring actions including evaluating, interviewing of candidates and selecting candidates to fill vacancies. You will use computer application software to manage workloads, communicate outcome of assignments and to present recommendations on programmatic issue to staff. You will provide comprehensive management advisory and technical services on construction and maintenance projects.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position will require travel, 25% of the time or less, from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position may be designated as essential. If so, you will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Supervising, mentoring, leading staff responsible for coordination of all services provided by the organization for supported commands; 2) Providing procedural guidance and expertise to customers/agencies concerning the requesting, funding, or execution of services; 3) Performing visual and predictive maintenance inspections and assessments of facilities systems to include mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, utilities, distribution systems, and equipment associated with building operations. 4) Analyzing facility maintenance reports and utility work type metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective actions and, 5) Providing advice, organization, recommending solutions, and assisting on technical matters requiring extensive knowledge of engineering practices and facility operation maintenance..
