You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the SUBMARINE TECHNICAL SUPPORT CENTER, REGIONAL SUPPORT GROUP GROTON of SUBMARINE TECHNICAL SUPPORT CENTER.
Duties
You will provide immediate authoritative technical assistance on urgent mission-degrading CASREPs or similar problems affecting major systems.
You will provide technical training to customers.
You will prepare comprehensive technical reports, and when required, formal correspondence, identifying the root cause and all other significant aspects of the problem and the corrections applied.
You will perform special engineering analyses and studies either in support of SYSCOM/ISEA or in-house initiatives for the purpose of developing or evaluating improvements in design, maintenance procedures, material, etc.
You will provide technical support to Supervisors of Shipbuilding and Naval Shipyards during repair and test/grooming functions, for the purpose of supplementing SUPSHIPS/Shipyard staffing.
You will assist in the indoctrination of organizational-level personnel in new operational and preventative maintenance procedures.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
*Experience with related engineering disciplines (such as electrical, electronic, mechanical, structural, etc.) in order to analyze problems from an overall system.
*Experience resolving complex problems in assigned equipment and systems while in a stressful environment and under constant pressure for rapid results to meet operational schedules.
*Experience in U.S. Navy specifications and regulations pertaining to design, maintenance,
safety and operation of assigned equipment/systems.
*Experience in activity missions, chain of command, objectives and administrative
policies to permit independent operation away from the activity.
*Experience in automated information system concepts, systems capabilities, and economic
usage to effectively complete assignments.
