You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Requirements Branch, Facilities Management Division, Facility Management & Sustainment (FM&S) product line of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will determine best practices for key work processes and standardization of work procedures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. You will adapt oral communication methods and styles based on the audience and the target objectives. You will implement materials quality assurance, quality control, safety, regulatory compliance, and logistic compliance. You will compose technical engineering instruction and procedures for mechanical, electrical, or structural maintenance, alterations, or repairs. You will use an application software (e.g., Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software) to provide status or compile statistics. You will negotiate with diverse work groups to gain support for solutions to complicated issues for assigned project.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

GS-10 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Communicate daily with customer and coordinating all maintenance services for assigned facilities; 2 ) Screen all work requirements considering issues of safety, urgency, priority, health and security and recommend or initiate appropriate action to properly maintain the facility and minimize life cycle costs; 3) Maintain budget oversight- Responsible for tracking estimates and expenditures and implementing controls necessary to keep budget execution in line; 4) Review projects that impact assigned facilities in scope, complexity, and design to ensure that sound engineering principles are utilized and that work is compatible with existing facility systems and customer mission; 5) Communicate customer concerns and desires so that proper customer focus will be incorporated in the funding decision making process.; and 6) Make recommendations for prioritizing projects to ensure that the needs of the tenants are met regarding mission requirements and other high impact or command interest issues, and 7) Answers customer concerns and questions regarding their facilities requirements.
