THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, Position Description Number T5303P01 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, 190th ARW, Topeka, KS, Kansas Air National Guard.

Duties

As an AIRMAN AND FAMILY READINESS SPECIALIST, GS-0301- 09, you will assist the Air National Guard Wing leadership in the development and implementation of a family readiness and support program to include Personal and Family Life Education services, Airman and Family Readiness Deployment Support, Personal Financial Readiness services, Employment Assistance, Military Child/Youth Program and Education, Transition Assistance Program - Title 32 and 10 funding, Wounded, Ill, and Injured Warrior/member and or family member, Disaster Preparedness - EFAC/AFPAAS, Relocation Assistance Program, Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP), Community Outreach and Cooperative Interface, Voting Assistance Program, and Educates on Survivor Benefit Plan at the unit level and provides family readiness assistance at the GSUs. Provides advice and assistance to the unit leadership in identifying and addressing family issues and demographic trends, which impact mission readiness and retention. Identifies Wing family needs and concerns and presents appropriate plans, and recommendations to facilitate family readiness and support decisions. Ensures all recommendations are in accordance with applicable guidelines, policies, and regulations. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
  • The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle and if so, an appropriate valid driver’s license is required.
  • Position designated Essential Personnel, may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration. Designation will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by the TAG.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: For positions for which individual occupational requirements do not specify otherwise, must have 3 years of general experience that demonstrates the ability to: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; and Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify for this GS-0301-09 position, the applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level. Experience is that which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.--Knowledge of the principles, policies, program goals and methodology of the National Guard quality of life programs, including factors that affect work and leisure environments, to identify family issues that require exploration, development, and resolutions, and determines appropriate methods and resources such as referral to social service programs and agencies, to provide information about National Guard assistance programs, to gather and analyze information on problems and difficulties of obtaining assistance using the current system, to provide programs that address such problems, and to recommend action to improve the system. Physical Demands: Work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices and meeting/conference rooms. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated

Graduate Education: Education at the graduate level in an accredited college or university in the amounts shown below meets the requirements for positions at GS-7 through GS-09. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

master's or equivalent graduate degree

or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
