THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER, Position Description Number T5741300 and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

Duties

As a UNIT DEPLOYMENT MANAGER, GS-0301-09, you will plan, organize, and oversee all unit level deployment activities. Configure and maintains functional Unit Type Codes (UTCs) as postured by MAJCOM FAMs (Functional Area Managers) using available unit assets. Notifiy the wing Installation Deployment Officer (IDO) and MAJCOM FAM for remedial action when UTCs cannot be supported due to changes in manpower or equipment. Monitor UTC/Unit Manning Document (UMD) authorizations and notifies senior management/applicable offices when mismatches are identified. Using established guidance, develops and implements home station military workload mitigation plans to maximize deployable capability. Review all deployment related documents for applicable equipment and personnel tasking's and identifies the units total deployment requirements. Work closely with unit personnel to tailor packages as required to meet exercise and contingency deployment actions. Utilizes Logistics Module (LOGMOD) to monitor and track unit status during deployments and exercises. Other duties as assigned. Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK" Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period. Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance within one year of appointment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.
  • ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND OPM PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
  • Incumbent may be required to work other than normal duty hours to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • This position may be designated mission essential based on local conditions. Mission essential personnel report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 24 months experience, education or training in any position that required compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures. To qualify for this GS-0301-09 position, the applicant must have at least one year of specialized experience as a GS07 or equivalent. Experience is that which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled: Physical Demands: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Work Environment: The work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. The position may require travel.
