The primary purpose of this position is: To perform inspections and advisory duties at the command and unit level to detect and reduce or eliminate program mismanagement or waste for complex multi-mission installations involving diverse activities.
Duties
Performs MAJCOM-level inspector duties for formal inspections covering a wide array of nuclear and conventional operational mission and mission support tasks.
Evaluates and validates Logistics Plans functional processes, procedures, and planning activities.
Serves as technical advisor and trainer to the Inspector General, team chiefs, and IG team leads for logistic planning operations.
Plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates logistics plans functions, to include.
Evaluates logistics planning operations. Ensures unit accomplishment of assigned mission as well as prepares, compiles, coordinates, publishes, distributes, maintains, and implements deployment guidance.

- Employee must have a minimum of 10 years of experience with logistics plans functions
- Employee is required to occasionally perform duties on aircraft and airfield/flightline areas

- Bachelor’s degree is highly desired

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule, Administrative and Mangement Positions, General Inspection Investigation Enforcement and Compliance Series 1801
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes Knowledge of a wide range of complex inspection and/or compliance principles, concepts, and practices sufficient to conduct inspections, interpret complex policies/regulations, recognize and resolve significant discrepancies and/or
inconsistencies among findings. Knowledge of a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods for the analysis and improvement of program
effectiveness or the involvement of complex management processes and systems. Knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and unit/installation organizational structure, operations, and policies; and mission responsibilities of the many diverse organizational entities.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of pre-deployment and deployment management functions and processes; Air Force operations and organization; processes of deployment, beddown, employment, redeployment, and reconstitution; command and control techniques; techniques of conducting readiness assessments; data processing and electronic data processing equipment; and basic budgeting techniques.
2. Knowledge of logistics plans principles, policies, practices, laws, regulations, techniques, and operations, to include those concerning WRM functions; logistics planning techniques in functional areas of materiel management, maintenance, transportation, contracting, civil engineering, services, force protection, operations, personnel, comptroller, medical and legal as impacted by, and as they impact installation logistics planning; administration, surveillance; and WRM management to include WRM report analysis, deficiency validation, review board processes, and requirements
determination process.
3. Knowledge of logistics adaptive, base support, and support agreement planning processes; preparation of logistics annexes for operations plans and orders, programming, general support, contingency, and exercise plans; evaluation of all aspects of deployment planning, dispersal, sustainment, recovery, reconstitution, exercises, and logistics support procedures; coordinating, publishing, distributing, maintaining, and implementing of base support plans.
4. Skill is conducting formal MAJCOM readiness and compliance inspections; preparing reports and recommendations; and addressing risk assessment methods and techniques for compliance.
5. Skill in interpreting operating plans and specifications sufficient to identify hazardous operating environments; applying analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex operational and safety problems; and detecting potential Fraud, Waste & Abuse (FWA) of resources in plans, proposed operations, current operations, and during the conduct of peacetime and wartime inspection and exercise scenarios.
6. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines; to communicate effectively in written and oral formats; and to produce MAJCM-level formal inspection reports in short time periods.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
